Automatic Defibrillators
Fully automatic external defibrillators are designed to be simple to use and allow any member of the general public to administer external defibrillation to someone suffering sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). The AED automatically diagnoses an abnormal heart rhythm and determines if a shock is needed. Once the criteria has been met, fully automatic AEDs will administer a shock to attempt to bring the heart into a normal rhythm. This is particularly suitable for hesitant rescuers as they are not required to press a shock button.
