What Basic Hygiene Standards To Practice In A Workplace?

Basic hygiene procedures should be applied to every workplace. The basic ways to prevent cross infection through bad hygiene are:

  • Hand hygiene- always have hand disinfection in every toilet and preferably hand sanitizer around your workplace / school.
  • Use disposable clothes when necessary to help stop cross contamination.
  • Always wear protective clothing when necessary, ie- disposable plastic aprons, protection shoe covers.
  • Always make sure you are stocked up with disinfection products such as bleach, sprays, tablets and cleaning fluids to ensure that you can stay clean and sanitized in your workplace.
What Are The Legal Requirements For Hygiene In A Workplace?

From January 1, 1996, a new set of food hygiene regulations came into force. Read the full legal regulations here.
