What Is The Importance Of Fire Door Signs?

All fire exit doors are fundamental to fire strategies for buildings. All building fire exit doors legally need to have a “Fire Door, Keep Shut” sign. This is an example of a ‘mandatory’ sign, this means it is a type of sign that gives a clear instruction which has to be followed to keep safe from a fire.

Also, any door that could be confused with an emergency exit door should be marked clearly with a sign or notice reading ‘no exit’, ‘no way out’ or labelled with their use, such as ‘storeroom’.

What Type Of Company Needs Fire Door Signs?

All companies, schools and public buildings legally must have fire door signs.

How Often Should I Have My Fire Door Inspection?

It all depends on what type of building you are responsible for and who occupies it. Some building have a very heavy traffic flow such as hospitals and schools, which means they will need to be inspected more than a building with less traffic.

We recommend having inspections every six months to ensure suitablity of the doors.
